I visited Giverny (near Vernon) to see Claude Monet's house and gardens. You can rent a bike from a café just outside the Vernon train station. They give you a little map (shown below) but here is a better version on Google maps. The rental was funny. It's hard to describe, but it was like the mafia was running the café and the rentals. In the end, we got our bikes for 18€ (I think) and the only time limit was when the café closed.
Here you can see the Vernon train station (on the right) and the café in one pic. The corner place (with red awnings) is the bike rental café.
I thought the picture above was cool. It's Monet standing in his house surrounded by paintings. The room is left the same way (the paintings are copies of course) and you can stand in the same spot. This picture is in the same room in which it was taken.
The gardens have a nice variety of flowers and the ponds make it
clear how they could inspire several paintings.
The house on the left is on the old bridge. You see it as you cross Pont Clemenceau on the way to Giverny. The map on the right is the one the bike place gives you when you rent a ride.
