Day with Gendarmerie : 2013-09

We took a field trip to Base Aérienne 107 south of Paris for a day with the Gendarmerie. The base is used primarily for some of their helicopters. We saw a lot of their equipment and had some briefings and at the end of the day, we watched a live demo of riot control.

They use a pretty nice helicopter, the Eurocopter EC-135. It had a nice sensor package too (R).

This is a machine gun on top of a vehicle sometimes used when deployed. It's the Berliet VXB-170 and is a classic 1970s APC. On the right, a plastic soldier inside of an NBC suit. Pretty realistic eyes for a mannequin.
