After visiting the Musée national de la marine, I returned to the Trocadéro to see the fountains. Apparently, they come to life on top of the hour - the smaller ones about 5-10 minutes before the hour and the big guns at the hour. I've lived here seven months and didn't even know about it. Cool place to hang out, enjoy the view, watch the fountains and catch some street performers - all for free. Here's the picture I took (on the left), and a picture higher up with the big guns off.
