Angry Bones and Bad Foot

Angry Bones, 1993
Pencil.

Perspective and anatomy. Those are two things I'd say are critical to drawing and painting. At least if your goal is some level of realism. If not, it doesn't really matter.

This little sketch is a attempt to work at both. It's also stretched on purpose to make is somewhat disturbing and/ or amplify the skeleton's anger. The hand holding the ball had to be really large if his right arm is as long as his left. I still like this drawing well over 20 years later.

It looks like the rocks and spheres and clouds made the cut - again. Maybe he's mad that he's stuck out in the desert and those darn clouds haven't given him enough shade or rain in ages.

Bad Foot, 1994
Pencil.

Some more “notes” from college. I was practicing the human form but got carried away with his foot and morphed the clouds he's floating in to better match. It reminds me of a Dali dream – which makes sense since I’m impressed with his work.

These particular notes were taken in Statistics – hence the equations going on in the upper left corner.
