Sabre Glory | 1993

Sabre Glory, 1993
Acrylic wall mural, 15’ x 9’, USAF Academy collection.
This photo is low quality, but it was difficult to shoot due to the available space. It’s in a hallway in the Academy dorms. I think it’s cool when jets lay down their tracks of “steam”, and it’s always cool to fly among the clouds – especially with Old Glory in there.

A closeup of the Sabres and a negative just to see what it would look like.

For those unfamiliar, this is the F-86 Sabre – a big workhorse and MiG killer in the Korean War. Why the Sabre? Because it’s an awesome machine – a perfect prelude to the F-16. It began what I call the line of single-engine, single-tail legends. Will the F-16 be the last?
