On the drive from Phoenix to Layton, and before visiting Arches National Park, I stopped at the Grand Canyon. I had seen neither so I was pretty excited about getting eyes on. I only have my ticket and a map from the visit (just found them after seven years) but the internet is not short of pictures. I will concede this...it really did catch me off guard when I finally walked up to it. I'd never seen it so aside from finally getting that opportunity, I'm really glad it had that effect on me. Some things get hype that don't match the hype. The Grand Canyon matches the hype.
