I drove from Phoenix to Layton in March 2010 and although it was slightly out of the way, I had to stop at the Arches. Paintings and pictures of the arches were always a favorite of mine so seeing them in person was awesome. Met all expectations. I was texting (by the way, texting doesn't spell check) someone while I was there, and they asked how it compared to the Grand Canyon. Zero comparison. It's all the grand canyon has to offer and it's above ground. Awesome! Arches website
Update, 20171118: I found my ticket and map from the visit in my car. Weird that it took me seven years to come across them. Maybe I should clean my car more often.
