We were on vacation, but I didn't leave for any trip as I wanted to see my first Bastille Day in person. The day started with the military parade. Direct Matin published the order of events. It even broke down the individual flights of aircraft - pretty cool. What wasn't cool was the crowd at Champs-Élysées and there was no real consideration for military people. That was kind of a bummer. So, we walked back to Esplanade des Invalides and stood by Pont Alexandre III. You could see the jets pretty good from there. After the jets, we went to my house to watch the rest of the parade on TV.
Above, the parade plan and below, a great shot (taken by Celine) of the
Patrouille de France just before reaching a column on Pont Alexandre III.
Later that night, we were able to watch the fireworks from a balcony of a friend with a great view. We had some Champagne and stared at a show that lasted almost 30 minutes! It was awesome! It's hard to capture fireworks with an average camera, but I had to post a couple. The fireworks are launched by the Trocadéro. Below is a shot of the Tour Eiffel I took after the show. I'm glad I stayed in Paris.
