We tried to visit the musée d'Orsay on Christmas Eve. As a side note, d'Orsay is open on Tuesdays, and the Louvre is open on Mondays. The normal down-day for museums is Monday so I appreciate the offset by these two giants. Sadly, the line was enormous and the museum closed an hour earlier than normal (Christmas Eve), so we bailed. Before jumping on the metro we tried le Solférino which is just near the Solférino Métro. We had a great table and good drinks - I would recommend it.
Later that evening we attended a candlelight service at the American Church in Paris. It was a great even and the church was packed. I couldn't understand why there were no seats since were were actually early (about 19:15 for a 19:30 event) but there was a 19:00 musical prelude which I completely missed when I researched the schedule. Regardless, we were able to get a seat (in the side wing) and it was a very nice service - with classic, easy to sing hymns.
