Peterson AFB has an air park with some static displays so I visited it on my first weekend after starting to work. The base actually has a lot of good displays all over. I always appreciate that as it actually takes effort and money to maintain.
Above left is the CIM-10 BOMARC. This was actually an interceptor! I launched and then used its own radar to hit the target. We made a lot of stuff in the Cold War. On the right is a close up of the wingtip of the EC-121T Warning Star (shown below). I just thought it made a good contrast against a great sky.
This is a classic. The Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star. This jet first flew in 1948 and some are still flying! I thought it was a classic pic with the beautiful sky and pine trees in the background. It was like a the perfect image right before you take her up to fly.
This plane was like and early AWACS. It is the EC-121T Warning Star (mentioned above) which is a modified Lookheed Constellation. I took the pic because I always thought the Constellation was always an interesting looking airplane. Very smooth and reminded me of a fish.
Lastly (not the same day), I took a pic of the first Cessna I flew since about 2009 (and much earlier before that). I want to get into some general aviation while I'm out here in Colorado. It was a good flight.
