My JPME class took a field trip to the Yorktown Battlefield. The weather was a bit cold, but the visit was great! It's so easy to forget the things our country has experienced and the victories she has won.
This is the Yorktown Victory Monument and a good reminder of those who
died to make us the country we are today.
This was a good reminder that the United States actually does have some old history. This mortar was made in 1681 - which is pretty amazing - and used a century later in our fight for independence. The plague on the left is just below the actual mortar (above right).
Because it was wet and kind of cold, we couldn't wait to get to our planned lunch. Inside, warm, dry and good food! On a recommendation from our awesome instructors, we went to the Water Street Grille - just a couple of minutes from the Yorktown visitors center. A shot of their glasses and a great scallop dish on the right. If you're in the area, I would recommend this restaurant. They even have a fireplace if the weather is less than warm.
These were my awesome classmates...
