David's Surprise

In January 2006, Doreen and I finished a personal goal of seeing all five Davids. Now, there are more than five, but the five addressed here are without doubt of the most famous - if not the most famous. Also, three of them are well before Michelangelo's. It is Michelangelo's which I think is safe to say is known as the David. However, some studying prior to our trip to Florence revealed that there are five very important Davids. The cool thing is four of them are in Florence so one trip can get you 80% complete on the David journey. Here is the original article: The Surprise of David

Speaking of the Davids, this is probably my favorite (it's the only action pose)

In all fairness, Michelangelo's is awesome, but so is this one when you see it. His lips are even pursed in concentration.
