So, we're all familiar with
Claude Monet and probably equally familiar with the confusion between Monet and
Édouard Manet. However, I had zero knowledge about this museum containing Monet, Manet,
Berthe Morisot and many more (artists and collections). It is the
Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris. At the time of my visit the lower floor had a traveling exposition, "Rubens, Van Dyck, Jordaens et Les Autres". In this exposition, there was Jordaens' "The King Drinks" which was impressive (below) and here's a good rundown of the collection at another blog,
Thé au Jasmin.

Eugène Manet et sa fille, Morisot |
I was not very familiar with Morisot, but she was in the circle of painters known as the original impressionists and had Julie Manet with Eugène Manet (Édouard's brother). I was really impressed with "Eugène Manet et sa fille". The photo to the left doesn't do it justice, but I found the faces amazing - especially that of Eugène. Below, is a fantastic portrait of Morisot by Manet.

The paintings of Monet and others are numerous so I will not list them (
some are listed here), but I was very pleased to stand in front of an incredible painting. The namesake of Impressionism, Monet's "Impression, Soleil Levant" painted in 1873. It was great to see this only a few feet away.
