MAM - Musée d'Art Moderne : 2013-02

I visited the MAM (Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris) and found out the permanent collection is free.  This isn't the only museum that does this (the Petit Palais for example), but it's important to set expectations.  In other words, some permanent collections are rather large, some aren't. The MAM's permanent collection is about average and had some great stuff.

This large Matisse sketch is part of the permanent collection. I was mainly impressed with the size.

Left: I liked this Tour Eiffel (1926) by Robert Delaunay (1885-1941)
and l'Oiseau bleu (1912-13) by Jean Metzinger (1883-1956).

I though this was a cool, dark painting / scene. It's l'Accusé (1907) by Georges Rouault (1871-1958). It's actually rather difficult to find a good version on the web. On the right, my attention was also grabbed by Le Rêve (1927) by Marc Chagall (1887-1985, 98 years!).

The cover of their pamphlet.
