Panthéon Paris and Saint-Étienne-du-Mont : 2013-04

Three friends and I visited the Panthéon in Paris. There are obviously more than one pantheon in the world (and I was lucky enough to see Rome's), but this one was spectacular in its own way. It's quite an amazing building in the heart of Paris

I can't take credit for this (it's from the site) but it's a great shot of what you see when you enter.

I was amazed with the architecture so I took a bunch of pictures...
When you walk in you see the Le Martyre de Saint Denis. I took a picture but this one is better. I found it quite interesting that he is picking up his own head.

The interior is most impressive. Pictures seldom capture
the feelings when looking at something like this.

On the left, a shot of the impressive floor under the main dome.
On the right, just one example of the impressive statues in the Panthéon.

And there is even a little Panthéon in the Panthéon! Cool model and I actually
appreciate these quite a bit since you can't see the entire building.

After the Panthéon, we visited the Saint-Étienne-du-Mont (you have to, it's right next door). Above is the front exterior. It's a very nice church. Below left is another exterior shot and on the right shows something I don't think I've ever seen before in a church. There are usually elevated pulpits (which is there in the lower right corner of the picture) but this church had a full bridge across the church.

If you turn around after you walk in, you'll see this impressive organ. Yes, there are hundreds of organs in hundreds of churches, but this one seemed to have a lot of woodwork and quite intricate woodwork at that. I kind of liked how it wasn't all pipes.
If you're in Paris, please visit the Panthéon and the Saint-Étienne-du-Mont.
