Thanks to Groupon, I had the idea to descend Pikes Peak on bikes. (Side note - although Groupon is in the business of making money, they do have good ideas. So even if you don't use Groupon, I do recommend visiting it for original date ideas.) Ashley and I like biking so I thought this would be perfect. And since it's downhill, how could anyone argue?
This is us in the back of the bus on the way up the mountain.
And this is us at the top of Pikes Peak next to the touristic sign. This is probably the fourth of fifth picture. People still don't understand that their fingers can cover a smart phone's lens. Which I find funny.
We had an absolutely perfect day for our descent. Some clouds, blue sky, great temp! I gladly took the "Bike Guide" vest as I fancy myself a good cyclist. Above right is a shot in front of the snow deck - pretty impressive for June!
A couple more shots showing the beautiful day and the beautify girl I was with.
I wanted to take an artistic shot of these ice crystals. They were below the huge snow pile above.
Another shot with the Bike Guide and his date, and an impressive selfie.
They are tricky, but Ashley nailed this one (right)! Would this be a selfies?
The mountain and its rock formations were fantastic.
On the right is a closeup of a backhoe. I thought these teeth showed character and could only imagine all the rocks and dirt they've scraped, broke and lifted. Probably a pretty good story.
A final shot of just one glimpse of the scenery on the bike ride. Truly amazing.
There are several ways to experience Pikes Peak - like we did, hiking, train, etc, If you get the chance, this is certainly a must-see!
