Took a flight today and visited two more airports on the Virginia Aviation Ambassadors Program. Yes, you have a little book and you're like a kid getting a stamp, but it's a good way to see airports. Personally, I love little airports. The space, the peace (normally), and the fact that they're tied to flying. Today's visit was to KLVL and KEMV or Lawrenceville-Brunswick Municipal Airport and Emporia-Greensville Regional Airport respectively. Both had a total of one person on scene. If you like to work alone, that is an ideal job. The isolation is part of the mystery. I never call these airports beforehand and seeing who's there and what the facilities are like is part of the adventure.
On the left is just before departure. I tried to capture the glory of the day. It was glorious. Almost 60 degrees and a sky as shown. On the right is parked at Lawrenceville-Brunswick. To the left of that hangar is the airport "terminal". In this case, more of a house. It was a nice house, though.
This is at Emporia-Greensville. They had a nicer terminal, but I had to take a shot of the airfield. It's an old military base (three large fields in a triangle pattern) so the space is pretty large. Only one of the legs of the triangle are in use, but nothing has encroached. Very serene & beautify in it's own way.
So, the stamps are cool, but I have low tolerance for weakly inked stamps. Emporia gets it.
