Saint-Sulpice

I have seen l'église Saint-Sulpice several times, but hadn't been inside until today. Yes, it's yet another church but it's rather large and there was some good artwork. I had to take a picture of the Angle of Death (below) because I always think it's amazing when skeletons are carved from marble. Quite impressive.

Here are some pictures from Wiki (below). I found the statue of Mary quite impressive. Not simply the sculpting and the fact that she's standing on a serpent but placement and setting. She resides in a rather dark alcove but at the same time she is illuminated so the affect is quite dramatic. And the statue grabs your attention right away. Not just because it's illuminated, but it's center stage. You can see in the picture on the right, the alcove and the statue itself can be seen as soon as you enter.
