I took my first flight in a Mooney. They're iconic with the vertical leading edge on the tail and are known for their strength. It was a ferry flight from Ohio to Florida with a stop in South Carolina. Funny enough, that route is almost due south which you might not guess without looking at a map. I needed a map. The owner (just purchased it) had flown Mooney's before but hadn't owned one for a few years. He was like a kid in a candy shop and it was great to fly with him.
The flight was from Harry Clever Field (KPHD) to North Palm Beach County Airport (F45) with a fuel stop in Orangeburg Municipal Airport (KOGB) - 818 nm as the Mooney flies.
N9124X : Mooney M20M TLS Bravo (Turbocharged Lycoming Sabre)
KPHD (left) and F45. Very nice FBO at North Palm Beach County Airport.
It was a great flight, we had perfect weather, and now I'm indoctrinated into the world of Mooney aircraft - thanks to Steve for taking me with him.
