K suggested we go to the National Western Stock Show in Denver - in particular to see the Draft Horse events. I've been to rodeos but not a draft show. We were able to see some of the horses up close prior to the event. - they are pretty amazing and large and strong. It was their 118th year and surprisingly, they're a non-profit.
These are pictures of the 6-horse hitch class event. Apparently, when someone asks, "who won Denver?" or "who won National Western?", they're actually asking who won the Six. So, we happened to see the event that matters most. The team I was rooting for came in second, but this was the semi-final. The finals were the next day. Point of interest - the rodeo was sold out both days!
If restaurants have it available, we tend to play the trivia. It's great when it's free, not so great when you discover it's on the bill. The best we did at Texas Roadhouse (above left) was second. But after the horse competition, we faired much better! The winning question (above center) and our claim to fame on the right. It'd be cool if that equated to a discount on the bill!
