Glaze : 2026-10

Glaze
08 October 2026
Acrylic on canvas
20 x 16 inches (50.8 x 40.6 cm)

This was painted for a call for art at an airport. The theme was "HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL: AN ABSTRACTION". Abstract work was requested and the narrative read, "Rumor has it that Colorado is graced with 300 days of sunshine in a year. For these sleepy grey winter months ahead, we are asking for an abstract celebration of the colors and forms you associate with the impending spring, the return of longer days, warmer days, and the promise of summer's gardens." I 'glazed' over some cold, stoic shapes with what may be ice, frost or just a gloomy mood and placed a warm orb to give us hope and a reminder that things seldom stay the same.

This is the frame currently holding Glaze. I made it from pre-cut frame wood. It's actually inverted.
I.e., the edge that would wrap around the front of the canvas is now supporting it from behind.
