I picked up another pre-used canvas which had a paining of a toucan. I was going to use it for something else, but thought I'd try my version of a toucan. They are amazing birds and I wanted to paint it without reference. I did eventually look at a couple pictures, but not while I was painting. Working on the tree and leaves ended up being equally important practice for me.
The original painting (L) and my rough sketch in orange.
Filling in the body (L) and the beak (R) with a correction to the tail.
This painting is in a frame very similar to this one.
